The first shot is of my beloved grandmother. She died many years ago. She is third row left. Someone many years ago wrote a #2 over her. The shot was taken in 1905.
First row left is aunt Elsie. The second one is me at one year old before my first hair cut. And of course the third one is during the hair cut. __________________

I just love the 1920 hatfield picture. I called it that just because it looks like the Hatfield and McCoys
. The small baby in the front is my dad. This picture and the neg6 I scan in from a big negitive's. I love the old pictures. |

Just found this thread. I’ve turned a few into digital. Can’t find the one I’m thinking of. My father was always taking trips and photos. This is from a trip before I was born. I can only guess at the date. Somewhere around 1940. It is a western red cedar stump near Arlington, Washington. Stump was preserved at the request of someone in 1922 according to the sign on the stump.

Here is four generations of women on my Dad's side...sadly to say each of these women died early of pancreatic cancer. The woman seated on the left side is my Dad's mom...she died when my dad was only 20, the little girl is my beloved Aunt Ruth...whom I lost 3 years ago January.
The soldier is my dad in his Army uniform...does he look like Corp O'Reilly from MASH or what?! LOL ![]() I have some other rather cute ones that I'll post it I can find them. |

My grandfather recently gave me all his old albums, so I've been slowly scanning the photos. Can anyone recommend a negative scanner, that also can scan 120 or large 6x6 looking negatives?

Pic taken by me of my Dad in 1975 in the Tehachapi Mountains, he was 75 at that time. My Dad spent most of his spare time in the Tehachapi's, he loved the mountains and wildlife. He started me hunting and learning gun safety when I was 9 years old. He had over 200 guns when he died, many one of a kind pieces. I spent many untold days with him in the mountains learning about animals, American Indians, geology, flora and fauna and respect for the earth.

This was taken 44 years ago and was badly damaged but I restored it. It is one of my very favorite photos of my kids. I love the composition and the natural expressions of just enjoying nature. It does not look like a really old photo but i think 44 years is old...for a photo!

Two photographs during the WWII era. First one is my dad and me in my little army helmet. He was headed over to fight in Sicily, Italy, France and Germany. I was the "little soldier" and was his "sonny boy". As I have said in another thread, he came home in 1946 and he had changed. Only in the last years of his life were we close. On the other hand, my oldest daughter was born a few years before his premature death and she was the apple of his eye. In some ways, I rejoiced in the love those two exchanged. He had a riding lawn mower and bought one for her without blade and with a seat belt. She was 3 years old and had her own ride. In other ways, I suspect the time and affection he gave her probably hurt me more than I now remember.
The second is a photo from his scrap book of a place he visited during the winding down of the war. It was a photo of St. Veit im Pongau near Salzburg, Austria. He never told me about this but did tell me in his last years of the fighting and the de-nazification on which he worked for about a year after the war. He was a child of the depression and dust bowl, had an 8th grade education, went to work with the Conservation Corps then the Army to help support my mother and then me. I never thought I could do anything right while he lived but found that some of those lessons steeled me to grab my boot straps, get my degree in college, go to Law School and I feel much of my success was due to my desire to show him I could. He never saw me graduate from law school but would probably have said, "You probably would do better working at a machine shop." I doubt if he would have meant it but he just could not show any pride. Maybe he felt cheated by his life. Ah the memories this thread brings and some pain. Mel |

My mom came to visit at christmas and presented me with a bit of a chalange, she gave me an old photo of her as a child and asked me if I could color the photo.
The original photowas taken about 1940 and color film was hard to come by. 1# The revamped B&W photo. ![]() 2# The colored version ![]() |

I dunno who she is, this was found on a roll of film left in a can I purchassed for a prop. the negitives where in imaculate condition, In an odd twist of fate this film bought on January 19, 2008 was processed on January 19, 1951 according to the reciept slip in the can, I found that amusing.
