As I was voted the handsomest camel [or ugliest human ] in the last contest I get to start the next contest . This time we need some participation because I only won the last one because I was the only entrant . This one will also be a self portrait [ not a picture of spidermans girl friend please ] , but it has to be a ghost image .
I achieved mine after reading the bi-monthly " dphoto" magazine over here in NZ which discussed night photography . I set up the tripod , about 30 second exposure with a flash , and after the flash went off walked behind the camera so you can see the lights that were behind me . [ maybe I should have made them appear where my eyes were ] . The hill in the background is " Mount Maunganui " at the mouth of Tauranga harbour , a very scenic location for photography as well .[ looking at where the light is maybe I should call this one ' heartburn' ] So that's it , " Self Portrait Ghost image " __________________

* * * * * * * *I'm on dial up, sooooooooo sloooooooooow!!!!! Posting pictures on this OLD computer with dial up is just out of the question.*
* *I do have a new system for my photography but it will not be hooked to the net, safty reasons.* * * * * * * *Your picture looks cool. Try using light colored clothing, shoot in black and white in the day time in an old cemetery. when you get it right you'll flip out your friends. I've got some real cool ghost shots. * * * * * * * * My best one I took an old rope, fed some small but stiff wire through it and tied a hangman's noose. I cut out the back so my buddy could stick his neck in with out touching the rope so it wouldn't move. ( You've got to do this on a very still day ). Hung the rope on a tree limb and got it set like I wanted. Had him dress like a cowboy in tan colored western clothing. Set my 20d on my tripod and set it on BW with 4 second exposure. Had him get in place, took the shot and covered my lens with a black card to stop exposure. as soon as he got out of the frame I jerked the card from my lens and covered it back as quick as I could to stop exposure again untill the shutted closed. Now I have a ghost on a rope.* ![]() * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Joe |

* * * * * * * It's not so much as the dial up, that's just part of the problem. My main problem is this computer I'm using on the net. Every time I turn it on, I think well, this will be the time it will crash. I mean this baby is old and slow. I may break down and hook my new one to the net, but that will take a lot of thought. sorry I made your eyes water wanting to see my photo.
* * * * * * * You should try it if you haven't, real easy to do now that we have digital so we can see what we have captured. When I'm not shooting People, I get a kick out of making ghost pictures. The funny thing is when you make them look real, and show them around, it will knock your socks off to find out how many stupid folks there are out there that think that they are real. : ![]() Joe |

I'm sorry but we are all going to hound you until you show us that picture . Surely there is a computer around that you can use to set it up for us ?
Do I have to revert to psychological tactics like " Oh , so maybe you didn't really take the picture mentioned and now you are making excuses why you can't show us " Don't make me sink to that level ..... show us the picture ............please . : ![]() |

OK. I don't know of another computer I could use off hand, but when I get time I'll see what I can do.
With this long weekend, you should try what I told you. It's a lot of fun. Wish my weekend was going to be long, but I have to work. Got to pay for all my photography toys. :-[ |
