Default S5 pro with SB600/800/900

hi all,
got a quick question mainly regruading S5 pro using SB600, but it may also apply to SB800/900.
in the S5 pro, i set it to use TTL (for whatever reason i cant find i-TTL)
then on the SB600, it;s the default TTL too (again, no i-ttl is mentioned)
everytime i use it it;s most likely to overexpose itself, mainly object too bright even when i use centre weight (i use M mode in S5 and leave it to auto for the flash)
first i thought it might just be me not using it properly, but then when i use the SB600 on the D40 (same settings for SB600, and m mode in D40) the D40 works like magic, always getting it right, the object always turn out to be correctly exposed.....
any one may suggest where i have set it wrong or could it just be S5 is frm fuji so something is not supported in one way or another?
cheers

I use the SB-800 with the S5 all the time and get great results.

I am usually in A (Aperture Priority) or M (Manual) on the Fuji and TTL-BL on the SB-800. I also never use direct flash - I bounce off a ceiling or wall (unless outdoors).
