Talking Fuji S3 Function settings!?

Hello:

I am trying to get the S3 to change (alter) the "Functions" display settings.

I have the PDF manual downloaded and printed out, BUT, I can't seem to change anything....?

If I am in user error, then ok, I'm trying to learn it, but, I seem to be following the steps and if I am correctly, what do I need to do that I am missing...?

I really don't know what else to try...?

I wanted to change the defaults and try new things (settings), per suggestions from other S3 owners / users, but I can't change those settings...?

Is there a certain sequence I might be missing....?

Any help would be greatly appreciated..

A quick step-by-step of setting the camera up (via the function settings) would be nice....

Thanks for your time...

God Bless,
Ed

Ed, setting up the camera is fairly complicated. Are you talking about changing the CSM settings via the dial, the settings within the rear LCD, or the settings via menu?
Or better yet, what are you trying to change?

One of the best resources for me, and you might look it up, was the CD put out by Thom Hogan about the S3, and the settings, & stuff... it was initially given for free when you registered the S3...?

Anyway, you might also check on the net, I think he has a webpage somewhere, and it might have a lot of the information on there, or you might be able to contact him directly and inquire about the CD/DVD or whatever it is (I can't really remember )

I managed to fianlly get the function settings to be change...!

It seems there is LOCK (ON/OFF), and that was preventing me from
changing anything.

Do you own the S3, and if so, did you ever use the Nikon 18-200 VR lens on the camera, and with what setting (basically)?

I'm not getting any "acceptable to me", sharp , crisp photos, what I expected to get...withthe above setup.

Thanks-
God Bless,
Ed

Hello!

The S3 was offered before the 18-200mm VR was offered and the S3 has a focus problem with that lens.

To get AF to work properely, you are going to need to send the camera to Fuji in NJ (in the States) and have them add a chip to a circuit. Without that, it misses focus sometimes. When the issue was new years ago, it was a free service. I doubt it still is. I once owned that camera and I still own the lens.

Hope that helps.

Also NEVER use the USB plug on that camera. It is weak and will break off inside from just the light touch of pushing in the plug, or pulling out the plug. Many an owner learned that the hard way.
