Talking Anyone using the Fuji S3?

Hello:

Is there anyone here that is using the Fuji S3 camera system?

I was wondering how it was working for you, and if you had any samples,
using it with various lenses, preferably with EXIF data?

Thanks-
God Bless,
Ed

My opinion? The S3 is just as good a camera or better than the S5.

Same sensor. Better playback/zoom for checking focus. Better one piece body rather than body and battery grip.

The S3 was a sweet camera. I almost cry when I remember that I sold it.

That being said, you can not easily find an S3 with a buffer upgrade. They are very slow writing to the card without the upgrade. The upgrade is no longer being offered. I would not want one without that upgrade.

Best camera today? Nikon D300! Makes me forget my S3.

I have been using the S3 since it came on the market having traded in my S2 for it and for which I had also traded my S1 for the S2. I did not like the S5 and only for button variations could not see any value to it. I use a Tamron 28 -300 zoom and also very fond of the 60mm Nikkor for macro. My only complaint with the S3 is the limit of 3 RAW images while the camera processes the information which does take time I would rather be taking more images. I would like to share images and EXIF information but do not know how to do it other than with the member gallery.
I notice your interest in purchasing an S3. Have you tried eBay? They may have some for sale. Good luck. Nice camera.

How can I tell if the camera I have now gotten, a used (new to me) - (S3), has had the buffer upgrade..? (The previous owner didn't mention it, and I never thought to ask..?)

Thanks-

Ed

Hello:

I have just received a used S3, and I tried it with a Tamron 28-200mm lens, but, the jpgs settings (after doing a factory reset), makes the pics very (unsharp)...

I mentioned the lens used to the previous owner, and he stated that the Tamron 28-200 is not a very "good" lens, he used only Nikkor lenses on the S3.

Are we using relatively the same lens?

What are your in camera settings, for "quick-setup"?

Thanks-
God Bless,
Ed

the supper ccd badge is blue in upgraded cameras. also if you shoot raw. a non upgraded camera can take 3 pics before buffer lock. an upgraded camera can take 7 or 8 pics before buffer lock.

for the un sharp pics in the csm menus, turn off items 7 and 8

Hello:

I imagine this "badge" you are referring to, is the "thing I call the logo"?

I have no "hard-copy manual, (yes, there's the PDF), but, quite inconvenient, rather have the paper manual...
so thanks for the "settings" - tips!

I'm so new to the camera that I've not begun to try to learn and understand the settings and what all the settings provide...

I've heard there's a lot of control with (dynamic range_ Learning what that really means...) - DR (settings that alter the outcome of the pics.)

Certainly really looking forward to using it and testing things out...

Thanks for your help !

God Bless,
Ed

Well - to my slight disappointment, it is NOT the blue colored badge.... , but, nothing I can do about it now....

I was thinking that there was a slight disadvantage ( on the Dpreview - thought I read it once)?, about the upgrade, makes the batteries run out quicker but....?

Oh well, I can't get the upgrade now....so, will have to live with it...

Anyone else using their S3 WITHOUT the upgrade buffer..?
(Any tips)?

Thanks-
God Bless,
Ed

SO I am certainly not the "only one" that doesn't have the upgraded S3..
That's reassuring to know, in that you may offer some tips...

Hi Kev-

Thanks but until I understand where these (or what these) settings are or do, I don't know what these settings mean?

I'vegot the PDF version of the manual, and WANTED to try "printing it out" in booklet (hard copy) form, BUT, I need to figure out the proper order to print so the pages read as a book...?

(I don't even know if I would be better for right now to do the two-button reset" and at least start to try getting some decents shots....

Thanks-
God Bless,
Ed
