Then study images. What can you possibly gain by knowing the "settings" in images like these?
Let me put it this way.......if you had his camera set to his settings.....would your images then look like his images? Think about it......cheers, Bob ![]() |

What Bob is saying spy is that there is a lot more you can get out of these images than simply the settings; and by looking at the images, you can work out a rough guide on the settings anyway.
These shots are great because they all capture the action right at the decisive moment. They are good examples of the principle of releasing the shutter at the right moment. That alone makes the shots powerful and even if there were technical issues with the images, the message would still be strong. However, in relation to settings, it's fairly clear that the aperture was fairly open, because the DOF is relatively shallow, especially considering the distance from the camera to subject. So these were probably shot in the range between f/2.8 - f/4 (maybe f/5.6), but no longer than that. The shallow depth of field has really helped to isolate the subject, but in a couple, the out of focus background adds even more to the shot and the lens has produced very pleasing bokeh. Very nice images. Regards, Peter |

this was the S3 iso 200 F4 at 300mm. i chose to up the iso from 100 to 200 as a slight dof adjustment. the F4 was enough to keep the subject isolated from background (ie picture and 1st baseman). i was going for just enough to notice, not enough to distract.
i think i got it right, its hard is the florida sun i should ad these were shot in wide DR raw |

I actually like the first shot. The composition with the circles is interesting and the impossibly twisted arm makes me hurt just looking at it.
And if I may add, those shots beat the hell out of those buildings at night that you were doing for a while. I mean that as a compliment with a side-recommendation ![]() Thanks for posting them. - Raist |
