Is this a good camera to buy ? I know its half the price of the Nikon D80 but is it half as good ? I am uncertain on which camera to buy. I think im down to Canon 40D and Fuji S9600.
Any help/advise will be appreciated. __________________

well you have 2 different types of cameras. the fuji 9600 is a bridge camera. theses are aimed at people that want more than a point and shoot and less than a dslr. the 9600 is one of the more advanced bridge cameras. the lens is equal to a 28-300mm lens on a slr. this lens is not removable. the canon 40d is an intermediate level dslr. this is getting into the advanced armature to pro level user. the 40d is equal to the nikon d200 or 300 and the fuji s5.

A point that needs to be made here: I AM a pro user. And that is what I am regardless of the camera I choose to use. Defining the user by the gear they use is just juvenile.....Cheers...Bob Oh, and to the original poster, the Fuji 9600 is an excellent choice......as is the Panasonic FZ50 should you choose to go that route....cheers...Bob |

i understand what you are say heartseye. I was not trying to make that definition. I was trying to point out that they have two different target audiences. i myself am looking at the 9600 for the reason of reach versus weight, when i just want to go light and quick.
