At last the S5 arrived, and my very first impression - very solid, second – feels more like N90 (camera I like a lot) great to handle. Much faster AF and bigger viewfinder, again feels more like N90.
So many adjustments, so much to learn, it has far more choices than S3 had. Now I can understand why so many people like it. First test, I wanted to know how auto white balance behaves, and the more ISO choices. Lens I used is Nikkor 24mm 2.8D, most settings left on STD At ISO 400 Great auto white balance in mixed light ![]() At ISO 1000 At ISO 3200 (I have use levels to darken this, looks more natural to me) I’m exited and after adding the grip It will have more of S3 feel, not to forget that possibility of using AA batteries is VERY handy when you travel. Only what I‘m missing and will miss is Fire wire and mechanical cable release. __________________

I have tried to shoot some sports with S3 and it worked OK (takes time to get use to), S5 will be better choice. It will be some learning curve, but that’s normal. I like it a lot, very good fit! Feels close to N90, or F100, great balance. After adding grip, I will loose camera envy to my friends with 5D. Few more samples from first day, all to test high ISO and mixed (low) light ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() __________________
