Question please advice on pocket size Fuji camera

My poor Coolpix 990 is no more (well past 20K shots and 7 years of service)
So E900 or F40fd?
I need instant (no shooter lag) response, manual is also priced. F40 have better ISO, but no RAW So far quality of E900 samples I have seen is appealing as well. Under $200.00 - very important.

Thank you guys for your response.

First, the good news: "takes on licking and keeps on ticking" Coolpix 990 is back in to the living (best of 900 series by Nikon).
I have spill some coffee in traveling bag were camera was, now when is dry looks like it will serve a bit longer.
Best design Nikon ever made for P&S camera (love the swivel body).

Second, it looks like F40fd makes most of the sense, F31fd is out of the market (I really wish for 6400 ISO camera).
The ability of shooting RAW and minimal shooter lag on E900 makes me interested in this camera.
I like P&S camera to work like little journal of ideas but sometimes if image is not bad I like ability of enhancing it with out of blown highlights.

So, which takes better pictures the Fuji 480 or the Canon 870IS? The sensor sizes is the same the lenses appear similar and the price of one is nearly twice the price of the other. What am I missing here?

Looks like I found appropriate replacement for 990 - it is E550. Not the newest technology, but good enough. DSLR is for serious work, while P&S for little notes with potential for good photo. It has RAW – this gives potential for saving better work, Super CCD, uses two AA - lifesaver in strange places were you can’t recharge (traveling) and I have bunch of researchable AA for S3 that I can put to use. Fairly clean ISO 800 only at 3MP, but clean. Decent lens, and low shooter lag, oh and the price is closest to my ballpark. BTW, F480 do not have Aperture or Shutter priority not to mention Manual.
