asking for lens advise
since the new hsm sigma 18-50 f2.8 is out for nikons. the cost is the same as the tamron 17-50 f2.8.
my thinking is the hsm of the sigma will serve me better than the 1mm of the tamron. now i am planning on getting the sigma 12-24 in the future so any thoughts on this? __________________

I would go with the HSM. I assume this also means full time MF is available, something I've found to be a must have for lenses. It's a pain to turn the AF off ad on while your shooting; just twisting the ring is much easier. Focal lengths for 3rd party lenses are usually off a bit anyway, so that 1mm doesn't mean much.

a mid priced f2.8 with hsm. so far its only for the nikon version. if tamron or tokina had a motor i would have rethought this one.
