Were taken with S2 - sharpest camera in my experience, direct JPEG, no PP. Not so easy with S5 - why? THX. Dimitri.

i really like the second one. there are a lot of settings for the S5 that come into play.
as for the S2. from what i have seen, its the most over looked 6mp dslr. |

That's the problem these days - great cams get overlooked as 18 months (or less) it's replacement is supposedly better/faster/sharper etc. I still love my 5mp Oly E-1. Haven't seen anything that can take shots as nice as that.
Agree with badpick on the 2nd shot. Smooth bokeh and nice natural colours. |

I found that the sharpest combo so far is the 5D with the Tamron 24-70 2.8 lens. I tried my wife's S2 with her lens and my friends 5D with the lens above and the 24-105 L Canon lens and although both were sharper than the Fuji, the Tamron kicked the Canon L's butt.

Hi, Larry! Brightness/contrast mostly, never sharpness or tone curves. Using D2XS now, need to spend a lot of time, but final print is better, especially if lab technician knows what to do!
For this particular shot did almost nothing! THX. Dimitri. P.S. D2XS/70-200 shot to show sharpness. |

Hi
I have a Fuji S2 (since Feb 2003) which I have always found to be very good for macro and social photography but lacking in fine detail in Landscape photography. I have read many times that it is fussy about lenses so this might be a contributing factor. I took this shot of my granddaughter with it and my Nikon 18-70 Zoom - 1/250th @f5.6. ![]() |

Hi
Thanks for looking - I see you on the DPReview forum regularly although I I haven't posted there for some time now. One thing I have always found with my S2 was that the images (RAW) straight off the camera appeared very soft and needed a lot of sharpening (which they could cope with admirably I might add). __________________
