Default the fuji rumor

this is off thom hogans mini predictions.

The Fujifilm S5 Pro isn't their only DSLR in the stable by year's end. And I don't mean just an S5 UVIR (though that will appear, too).

this is a rumor that fuji spawned. in one of their financial statements they indicated a move to make a photojournalists camera that the word pro really applies to it. now that fuji has secured the d200 body this does seem more likely. if you rumor search across the internet you find a comment here and there to keep this fresh.

i for one really hope its true. a good medium to high res fuji sensor, probably a HR one in a d200 body.

I agree that we will likely see a Fujifilm sensor in another DSLR later this year
it could be badged Nikon & the replacement for the D2X
that would be a world class camera for sure, but would cost a bundle

Default If they are doing a photo journalist camera...

Expect no more than 6 megapixels, perhaps 4-5. Also I wouldn't be sure they would put an SR sensor in it, but try to hit usable ISO 6400. It will also be fast and expensive. By expensive I mean $3,000 USD minimum (perhaps $3,500-$4,000).

Update: In light of the Canon EOS announcement, I think it's going to be tough for them to ask for more than $3,000 unless they have a resolution surprise. The Canon effectively qualifies as a photojournalistic camera due to the 10 fps. It's truly an all-around camera that seems to do all well (the Canon), though for $4,000 USD, I would expect it so

$4000 . Wow, a bargain. It's currently on pre-oder here for $6000.
