Incase anyone can answer these things. These are my pet peeves with my S3.
Are the RAW files compressed. They are just too big for me to shoot raw. Is the CF card R/W faster. Takes for ever to read a file off the card for review. Does the vertical shutter button wake up the camera. Guess this doesn't matter because there is no vertical shutter. Did I miss and S4? Ron __________________

1. right now no. it has been given to the marketing and development guys. so we are hopefull on this one. 2. do not know on the buffer speed. we do know the new buffer is around 288mb 3. this should be a yes. the S3 with buffer upgrade does. the S5 is reported to use the d200 accessories with only the batteries rumored to be different. this makes the bottom line a i do not know. fuji is rumored to release the production details on the 25th, but thisis rumor. 4. no you did not miss the S4. the number $ in japanese society sounds like the word death, thus is considered to be unlucky and is avoided. the latest rumor on price is a sub $2000 entry price. |

Thanks for the info. Right now I'm not feeling compelled to upgrade since none of the pet peeves I have are fixed. The only thing I see as a benefit is better focusing. And maybe wireless - that would be cool.

for me the S5 has a very refiend sensor. thus even though the resolution is the same the tonality and colors are going to be tweaked. we do get most of what the d200 body offers and the use of manual lenses is a big plus to me. the added i-ttl and iso up to 3200 is good. the buffer can hold 11 raw in wide dr. my plan is to get the D200 then the S5 to replace my S3.
i did ask about the file compression and they agreed it was a good idea and passed it along. i am hoping for a transfer rate of 4.8-8.2mb/sec. while this is still slow its is a lot faster than 2.2 for the s3. |

Come on, Bad! Direct best jpeg ever from the camera is jpeg from Fuji, as well as sharpness. S3 sensor inside new D200 body is very smart move. S5 will be absolutely natural backup to my D2Xs, row isn't that always good, and everybody needs wider DR. So, I think, S5 is way better for me with it's real 9-10 MP, than D200. Looking forvard to grab!

no the S5 will make a great companion to a nikon line up. I am now thinking of just getting 2 s5's and go from there.
