Default Fuji S5 guess

snaked this from dp.

The Fuji Rep at last weeks PPANE trade show told me it would list for $1,999 and be available by January for around $1,800.

based on this and what we know. its a d200 body a 10-10mp sensor with 1-1.5 stops over the S3. so that would be 11-11.5 stops of DR 3 fps. i-ttl and will meter manual lenses.

I really doubt it will be a true 10 megapixel sensor - if it's using a sensor of S-R type. That would mean the sensor would have to be equivalent to a 20 megapixel one in that space.. I realize Fuji has great sensor technology but the R photosites would have to be so much smaller than the S... and then with a body bought from Nikon this would end up in $2,000 USD? I really really doubt it.

Put me on the skeptic list.

true the sensor sizes available to them are 8-8, 9-9, and 10-10.

a few months ago i had inside info that the new fuji was going to be either a 10-10 or a 12-12 res camera. but the announcent is set for 8-9am gmt tomorrow. so all the guessing debate and trolling comes to a stop.

i doubt anyone would pay that much for a 8-8mp sensor, when a D200 is much less and faster. I know i wont. A 9-9 will make some bite on it, they will have the S3 issue all over again. For me and a lot of other Fuji owners, we need real resolution. so for me i can trade 2 fps for an extra stop or 3 over a D200. At 9mp res, i dont think i can.

yepper a 6-6mp is a no gain resolution wise. this is almost an all body update. the write speed is not faster either.

Is it official the write speed is not faster? If so that would be quite bad, imho, even with the buffer. That just means when that buffer fills you are going to have to wait forever. I guess you can still shoot in jpeg and it should be allright, becuase of the bigger buffer.

The D200 looks impressive, but then Fuji always seems to take a good thing and make it better.

then it aint at fuji. all kidding aside. the fuji has a look that canon and nikon dont. but bang for the buck, that is not fuji. i would say a D80, D200 then a S3 or S5. if you can wait, the S5 is a great body for fuji.
