O my God, why is everyone and their Cat announcing everything this week? Must be an astrological coincidence (sarcasm on).

Let's see, we already knew about : Olympus (Sep 15 or tomorrow too?!),

Nintendo! (Sep 14- Thursday) - the Wii console should have its official release date and pricing.

Apple! (tomorrow, also Sep 12!, new iPod Nanos, rumored iTune movie rental service)

I bet many others just for kicks.

Fuji is saving this for Photokina. In the meantime I have to say I am VERY surprised by Pentax. I think their model does kick ass.... so far.. if it performs like I think it will. And water resist for $999. I wonder what lenses they have in their line that can do this.

fuji is either going to hold out till photokina or they will release early. i would have thought 1-2 weeks before photokina would be the best time to announce. what i do hope is that they are in production and are being shipped now. thus it will be available when they announce. knowing fuji probably not gonna happen.

i tried calling them today, but got a run aroound.

I looked into the Pentax some more. If I was buying a new system *today* and I had no previous system it would be 80% likely I would go for this Pentax (I will try it out first of course). The only thing I am seeing missing in the equation are rain-resistant fast lenses... supposedly they are comming this year.. but they are not out yet.

i think you will find that most folks are going to sealing the bodies against water. it has not become a must have item.

Same as 'anti-dust'. Seems like everyone is going this way, after Olympus pioneering it (and often being pilloried for having such a 'pointless' feature ). I'll bet serious money that there will be a Nikon body with this feature within the year.

we are now getting word that it should be announced on the 25th. It will have a d200 body from what the reports are saying. should be in stores maybe late dec, but porbably pma time.

Where are all you people getting your reports? One predicts an announcement on Sept 12, another 15, and now Sept 25. It will be on a D80 body, no an F6 body, Oh no...now its an D200 body. Damn, can we just stop the speculations and just wait and see what the heck they will turn out!

there is a lot of specualtions going on by a lot of people. First off Fuji is very tight lipped. but some fuji reps have stated a photokina release. fuji usa gave a release date of the 12th that has been retracted. fuji ffindland or sweden said the s3 production had stopped in april and a new camera would be release for sale in late 06. here is where peole get carried away. fuji has to get a cheap body to keep the price down. thus all the wishful spounting a F6 body are wrong. the only bodies available to meet fuji's budget were the d70 and the d200. with the d70 getting the now release d80 upgrade and the massive bad press on the S3. fuji was left with one real choice, the d200. as for sensors, fuji still has not released that.

I am very intrigued what they are going to do with the price... and issues the S3 had. Quite frankly, after that Pentax, everyone must be shaking a bit.

well at least the S5 should be able to meter the old manual focus lenses AI and AIS. that is a big plus for me.

yes its a d200 body. supposed to be 3fps. its aimed at the canon 5d crowd.
