Default Using the e-1 to reach and touch something . . .

One of the things I enjoy doing with my e-1, besides pinhole, abstract, grandkids, etc. is a bit of birding. Yesterday at the High Island Rookery I captured this uncropped image with my Tamron 400mm f4 + 2X extender and the e-1. An effective 1600mm in 35mm terms. I've not been overly please with my results using auto focus with the 50-200mm DZ and 1.4X teleconverter, so I figure if I'm using manual focus anyway, why not use some of these old 35mm manual focus lenses. Very sharp shot Bill. Impressive when you consider the effective focal length. Why weren't you so pleased with the 50-200 + 1.4X? Was it a problem with attaining focus?

That is the problem. Any suggestions? Bill Barber

Well I've not come across that problem myself, though there is occasionally a bit of hunting going on with the 50-200mm. No more with or without the EC-14 though. Always get the lock eventually though and I find it easier than if I were using that combo in manual mode. The only tip I have (and I'm sure you've already dsicovered it) is to continuously press the shutter release to prevent the hunting going from one extreme to the other.
