Default Camera fall down and go boom...

Came home from work last week to find my E-510 on the floor of the carpeted closet (the cats can open the closet door and apparently decided THAT shelf was the shelf they needed to be on). Didn't look worse the wear for the fall until I noticed the glass over the viewfinder was cracked. Cracked beyond repair.

Cats don't remember s _ _ t & I'm sure they had no idea what the heck all the screaming was about. A dog will know what he done wrong... but I digress.

After a quick google to find out the repair cost is prohibitive in relation to the value of the camera, I popped all the glass out. I took several shots & it seems the camera is working still just fine, just no protective glass.

Here's the question (& certainly not Olympus-exclusive), if I don't take the camera to Niagara Falls to shoot pictures will it survive as is? I have the large eye piece, so my eye doesn't get anywhere near the inner glass.

Anybody else had this happen? Que pasa?

Crikey Renata, what a bummer!
I have absolutely no answer to your question as I am technologically challenged at the best of times, but offer sympathy, and as a cat lover .......don't be too hard on them!

With the glass missing that will allow dust in to where it shouldn't be

If you are at all handy I'd be tempted to replace the glass.

At worse, you can close up the eye piece and use Live View, sigh...

The cheapest option is to purchase a E-5 <big grin>

Cheers, Don

All of these thoughts were MY thoughts exactly!! There's an E-30 for sale hovering around the camel's marketplace too... le sigh.

Since you have the E-3 you wouldn't be disappointed with the E-30

If I I ever got good enough to warrant using a Hasselblad then I suppose that I might be actually able to afford one.....NAH!

Of course you might even like to try one of the PENS, the E-M5?
