Default Mixing equipment brands??

Hey all-
I am in need of a back up battery and found that there are several off brands. Does anyone use these? Do I need to by the (3x the price) brand name battery from the manufacture?
And for that matter, do other things inter-change? lenses? external flash?
Thanks,

Yes, most things could interchange, as long as they are suppose to. Sigma makes 4/3 lenses, and Metz has a flash unit or two specifically for the 4/3 models.

Like other places here where the battery question comes up, sometimes you get what you pay for. I have had good and bad experiences with 3rd party batteries. So much so that i don't skimp a few dollars trying to make something work. Too much of a crap shoot on batteries. Not pleasant when it works for about a week and then doesn't hold a charge, but says it will....
