First, a word of caution- these are not photographs. These are snaps done in a haste, just to get a feel for the lens.
The flares very easily if the sun is around. I found moving my hand to where the sun is over the hood and forward a bit helps. I wonder if a special hood could be made for it- probably a very $specialty item$. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This is just the palm of my hand barely in front of the hood area of the lens: ![]() I need to practice and see different with this lens. Otherwise, I am not really using it. Did these snaps to start to get a feel for it. - Raist __________________

I LOVE this lens. You did a great job experimenting with it--the location is beautiful, and you captured it well. Isn't the DoF amazing? I love the palm shots--what a warped hand!
I'll bet you had to be very careful holding it right in front--it's easy to bump into that bulging glass... It looks likke you're on the path to the best way to learn the strengths and challenges this beast presents...![]() I took this pic of my girl a couple of years ago right after I got it-not much of a shot, but I was amazed that I was able to put the lens practically on her forehead to get that distorted look that I get a kick out of.... |

Wow that shot works really nice! Good use of the 7-14- because the focus is the magnifier and her eye looking.. since her hand points to it in a way too... and the magnifier it already is "known" it may distort... I think that works. I would experiment with that kind of shot to make it even more dramatic if possible playing with light/shadow...
Interesting, thanks for posting that. - Raist |
