Did some trip high up in some mountains around here... pretty "interesting" to say the least... found a firemen station all the way high up there all alone with even helicopter landing pad. So when a movie situation like "24 days" (or whatever the count was) happens, that's where I am running to.
Most shots cropped & uncrooked. I am shooting A LOT crooked with my e-420 and I don't like that. Need to "calibrate" myself to it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() - Raist __________________

Hi Raist, the first shot is my favourite here... well done, the stand of trees looks a little tilted to the right to me?
The last image, I would have framed to include the base of the green bush bottom left - this would have worked much better for me. Did you get any good shots of the station? Kind Regards Brian |

@ Brian- I think the trees themselves were tilted, but it sure feels "crookedly"
No, didn't get any shots of the station. Would have required more involvement on my part talking to the firemen and it was getting late. I should go up there again and offer photos. @ Paul - Yes, the lighting to my surprise was nice which is one of the things I had trouble that day- finding nice light. Or maybe I just don't know yet intuitively how to pick up good daylight for a landscape. I also have to say there's quite a bit of detail there.. One BIG issue I have when shooting trees like these- I have problems picking what's best for the background. I often have a nice tree but I get that ground/sky division. This bugs me. If I pick often a green mountain background it feels to me that it could not be well separated or kinda boring (but then haven't done this all that much so I could be quite wrong). Then to pick sky only means shooting from below up, and there better be some nice clouds or something.. I am still getting a "feel" for this... |

I think landscapes are hard. I'm no expert on this by any means. Sometimes it takes just a small object/subject ot bring it alive. Often it's a case of big shapes and patterns - rule of thirds and all that.
