Default Rolling E-3's

I rolled my E-3 yesterday -- the shot counter passed the 9999 mark and is now on its second lap. I bought it November 17, 2007, making it only four months and twenty-six days old, give or take a few.

Only 139,728 shots left on its expected service life...

Anyone else pass the 10,000 shots mark? 20? What's your camera's counter at?

More importantly how many of the 10,000 were keepers!

Oh, at least five or six keepers...

Even though my counter has rolled over, Lightroom tells me that I have 9111 photos from my E-3 in my library. (Some are elsewhere, some were test shots that never made it off the card.) Of those photos:

6294 (69%) have a 1-star rating. This means they don't suck and are reasonably unique.
1051 (11.5%) got a two-star ranking, meaning that they were worth considering for further editing or otherwise significant. I suppose that makes them 'keepers'.
34 (0.37%) got a three-star rating, which is what I give to photos when I genuinely don't think that someone else in the same place with the same gear would have been able to take the same photo.
5 (0.055%) rank four stars, which is the highest rating I've used so far. And I'm not convinced that two of them deserve it.

How about posting those top 5 here... I'm intrigued to see them now!

Kind Regards

I won't post them all, but here's a link to my personal favourites gallery. The first five are the ones shot with the E-3.

Here's my favourite of the collection: E-3, 7-14 @ 7mm & f/8, 10s, iso100.

Default Thanks Matthew,

Obviously, practice makes perfect! Beautiful work in your gallery...

I need to get to work rolling over my E-3 too!

Kind Regards

Thanks very much for the wildly overgenerous compliment.

The full gallery is the result of over 20,000 photos taken since last July, including a three-week trip to Australia and California, and a two-week road trip between Reno, Las Vegas, and Omaha. Four of the 16 even predate that; the elephant photo is from almost two years ago. That gallery's not so much a product of skill as it is prolific shooting and extensive editing.

Love that HDR treatment Matthew. It has the 7-14mm stamped all over it .

I'm not sure where I'm up to with the E-3, but probably not far behind in nbr of shots. It took a month or two to get used to but now I just feel it's the best DSLR I've ever used. E-3 + great lenses is a perfect combo .
