Yeah, looks nice. The 25mm prime (pancake?) is a nice touch - though as usual I'll moan and say I'd have preferred a faster and wider lens .

Default I have to admit I would also...

have prefer something more like an F2.4 28mm (equivalent) but oh well.

Now, what Ithink is happening, Olympus is putting out this pancake as a "trial" and see how the market reacts. If the market buys it, I can see more coming. Personally I would be uber happy if they did 3 pancakes:

- one 24mm equiv F2.8
- one 50mm equiv F2.8 - er.. oh wait, that just got announced
- and one 70 or 100 mm equiv, F2.8 (or faster).

Keep them pancakes, even sell them as a kit who knows. I would be more than happy wit this and start shooting by primes at least in many situations.

For my style of street shooting something wider would be better. 50mm FOV is a bit tight for framing without offering the advantages of going full on telephoto. Not that 50 is totally useless but I'm surprised when it actually works for me.

What I am hoping is that Olympus comes with a 24-28 pancake down the line. I wish though they went for high grade and not standard (that's medium grade now). I saw some issues with the 50mm pancake.

Also I have to admit that photo of that shirt is a very big pocket!

Default Re: You see this?

Just as important to me, is whether Olympus will deliver a mirror-flapless mode of shooting... I'd much rather remain discreet when I'm street shooting, and often in social situations the typical E-420 mirror flap & shutter release will be too conspicuous for my liking.

There's a reasonable chance that this will be possible with the new Contrast detect AF.

Kind Regards

Brian
