Default Sigma Lenses - Bout Time

Sigma just announced they are releasing their 10-20mm F4-5.6 EX DC HSM lens and their 70-200mm F2.8 II EX DG APO MACRO HSM lens in the 4/3 mount.

The 10-20 is an interesting addition, being put in their with the likes of the 12-60 and 11-22. Might be a tick slower, but a good alternative for some.

The 70-200 is a really nice option to have now. Yeah the 50-200 is a FINE lens, and the 50-200 SWD (if it ever really appears) should be too. But this Sigma offers an option. And the Sigma has internal focusing.

The lens doesn't get longer as you zoom in and out. The same length all the time.

Both two nice lenses for the 4/3 system.
Nice addition and better choice for all of us.

...excusez-moi, small correction: that is internal ZOOMING, internal FOCUSSING means the lens doesn't get longer or shorter when FOCUSSING.

...just €0.02...

Kindest regards!

That's a nice boost for 4:3rd, especially the 70-200mm f/2.8.

I tried the shorter sigma zoom 2.8. I think it was a 17-50 but not sure because I returned it. My problem with it was massive " focus hunting" in low light indoors. I suggested to the photo store that the lens I was returning might have been defective, but they did not want to give me another one to try out with the understanding that I could return that one too. So I passed altogether. Regards, Dan F.

I suspect it was defective too. All the Sigma lenses I have had have performed as well as their competition in my book.

Well OK. I'm going to try another store who will let me have a shot at trying it again. I loved the straight thru 2.8. Thanks!

Well, it doesn't mean that across the board that lens isn't a piece of junk. You wouldn't think so, but you never know. It would be interesting to try another and see.
