Default 14-35mm f/2 - anyone seen it yet?

My usual supplier (Park cameras) still has it as Spring/Summer 2007. Not seen any evidence that it actually exists in stores yet though.

Interestingly, when doing a google for it - the first hit shows it as £399 - which is far too cheap for an Olympus f/2 zoom, so I guess that's wrong. See for yourself: 14-35mm - Google Search

This isn't the one is it? Looks like old hat..........

Melville, New York, February 17, 2005 – Olympus today announces the breakthrough development of the world's fastest “Designed for Digital” interchangeable fixed-aperture wide zoom lenses. Designed for use with Olympus E-System digital SLR cameras, including the E-1 and EVOLT E-300, these three exciting new Digital Specific™ lenses – Zuiko Digital ED 14-35mm f2.0, Zuiko Digital ED 35-100mm f2.0 and Zuiko Digital ED 90-250mm f2.8 – feature fixed apertures through the entire zoom range to offer the most advanced and fastest zooms of their kind available anywhere today. The new lenses compliment the current line of Zuiko Digital Specific Lenses™ offered by Olympus and establish the line as one of the largest 100% designed for digital lens systems offered by a manufacturer to date. These three lenses are due to go on sale in fourth quarter of 2005.

What I'm waiting for is the new 12-60mm - could certainly do some damage with that!

States on the site,
"New Lens expected Spring/ Summer 2007. Price TBC. Pre Order Today!
"

AFAIK - The lens doesn't show up on the Olympus dealer site according to my source so it's yet to be announced to dealers. [Price or Avil]

Olympus delayed this lens in their roadmap to 2008.

Just dredging this thread back up as Olympus have now got this lens out and is shipping. I guess no-one's got one yet and would care to share their thoughts? . I'm trying as hard as possible to avoid the BIN button on ebay .

Just not seen many shots or comments about it yet. I guess they'll come as it gets into more people's hands. This lens was announced when the 4:3rds system began so it's been a few years... I know I'll get one eventually, but will wait a while for the price to stabilise (i.e. drop).

I just wish it was more like a 10-35 or 11-35 or something smaller than what it is. As it is now, half a 14-54 is a waste...except for the extra stop of light...at the expense of how much?

I agree with pickles - the 14-35mm certainly gets encompassed by the likes of the 14-54mm, 12-60mm etc. I guess Olympus are giving you a choice between uber expensive fast zooms and better value, not so fast but still high quality zooms. Choice is good I guess, but if I do plump for the 14-35mm then it makes my current 14-54 and 12-60 doubly redundant .

I think the logic is that if you plop for the 14-34, then they know you killed most of the 14-54 or 12-60, so they are banking on you needing the 35-100 to go with your 14-35...

With the 14-35 and the 35-100, your 14-54 or 12-60 is truly redundant and can be sold off to the first bidder.....
