Default lookiing at buying a dslr

For those of you using an E-330 or E-500, what do you like dislike about your camera?
How do you like the quality of your pics?
Do you have to do a lot of post processing?

Thanks

I like the e-330 quite a bit. I love its jpegs options and I do almost zero post processing and shoot mostly jpeg all the time.

The e-500 also has most of these options- not 100% sure how the camera jpeg engine is interms of final quality. I think both are a certain step up from the e-300, and the e-330 has about 0.75 to 1.25 bette ISO noise handling than the e-300/e-500.

The E-330 is a good camera and will more than satisfy your requirements for quality pics. If you shoot JPEG then you can reduce the PP quite a bit, though I always feel that shooting RAW and then applying your own processing is the best option. My main complaints with the E-330 are down to small viewfinder (I much prefer the E-1 in this area) and the lack of dedicated buttons for some of the functions.

Raist3D,

I really don't see a hill of beans difference between the samples of the 300 and the 500. Same sensor with a few modifications. I'm really curious as to the results of the new and diff. sensor in the 330. The "preview" shtick is just that, but the rest of the camera looks interesting. What about build quality vs. the 500...the 300 was well built.

I might be attacked and have to fend off a FARC guerilla.

The e-300 is the better built evolt. After that I would say the e-330 followed by the e-500. If you need a camera that can take knocks, rain, etc, none of the evolts is your camera- that would be the E-1.

I don't know how much the jpeg engine of the e-500 improved over the e-300 but I know there's some improvements. Don't know if they have a sharpness in the jpegs advantage (probably do). Both the e-330 and e-500 share an immense ability to tweak your "jpeg film" for many situations.. vivid, natural, neutral, the black and white filter simulations.. it's all very convenient. Makes switching your "jpeg film" really easy and very easy to customize since each settings has its own set of sharpness/contrast/saturation/high key/low key modes.

The Jpeg engine of the e-330 is definitively improved over the e-300- able to capture more resolution vs the e-300, and in my opinion better color/dynamic range.

But if you need a camera that will stand a lot of mistreatment, the E-1 is that one. Since new Olympus annoucements are probably no more than two months away, I would wait if I was going to buy a new camera.

That's a given.* My intent is to buy 2, first the E-1 and then a second body like the 500 or 330.* From what I've been able to garner from the professional reviewers, they collectively outside of the "preview" feature ALL rate the 500 as the best "picture taker".* That is a disapointment to me because with the change in sensors and sensor manufacture, I would have expected a MARKED increase in performance, doesn't appear to be there.* Maybe a tad less noise but for double the price of the 500, not enough incentive.
I recently (early this year) sold my Kodak 14n and my old Nikon D1h and most of my Nikon lenses, so no great ties there. I've always been duly impressed with E-1 images. I don't do sports or high ISO's, with my Kodak I rarely if ever got over 180 ISO. The D1h was faster by far but a waste for me, 90% landscapes and barring another major earthquake, I don't worry much about the land moving too much and I normally always use a tripod.
The E-1 is also of interest to me because of the abundance of rain here, sometimes every day for weeks on end.

Greetings
the E330 can do B&W and Color at the same time. Great feature. Studio 1.5 correct all the flaws automatically. Very good camera. For hard knocks the E1 is one of the best.
