When the autofocus is used in live view mode B, the live view *DOES NOT* go blank like the Lumix or as stated in the news of dpreview.

Olympus cleverly kicks in - surprisingly seamlessly I may add- the live view mode A temporarily to autofocus and then puts back the live view mode B.

Kudos to Olympus! This is truly a great firmware upgrade because there are many situations where I saw myself when using live view mode B mainly for framing purposes and not in those completely manual focus situations- doing it myself- switching to live view mode A temporarily only to switch back to live view mode B. Well, this work around of mine is gone gone gone. This is truly a real upgrade, not a gimmick.

I have to say it's quite generous of Olympus to also upgdate the e-300. Kudos for this support.

Even though the firmware update for the E-300 doesn't really do very much, it is important good news as it shows a commitment by Olympus to their "older" products.
