Default Using the OM adapter

Well I got it last night, so immediately set about trying my old lenses on it. First impressions are - absolutely love it . Using the OM Zuiko 50mm macro as a portrait lens produced some great results, even wide open. I have a lovely old Vivitar Series 1 f/2.8 70-210mm zoom, weighs as much as the E-1 but is a beautiful lens with macro capability. Got some stunning shots with this just walking with it handheld around the garden. Attached a 2X-A teleconverter and that worked well too. Just wish I had a really wide angle OMZ lens to compensate for the 2x sensor.

What I enjoyed most was having to think a little bit more before each shot. Shooting totally manually brings you much closer to the essence of photography - it's all about light in the end isn't it?

I've a broken Internet connection at home at the moment - when back up I plan on posting some comparative examples of the various lenses.

I recently sold a couple of items on ebay. I tried shooting pictures of them with my E-300 kit zooms, but was having no success at all. I put on my adapter, a lowly 50mm f1.8, and VOILA-- much better results. The posts I have seen using OM lenses are generally pretty impressive IMHO.

The problem is, it's starting to reignite my thirst for the old cult classic lenses. there's a nice Tamron SP 90mm f/2.5 Macro on *bay at the moment. Repeat after me - I must resist...

Obviously resistance is futile... Oh well, I now have the Tamron 90mm 2.5 on its way to me. Any tips on how to sneak this into the house without the other half getting suspicious?

The adapter rocks! I too love the feel of the lenses and having to think before shooting. To those of us fairly new to this game it is a way to teach without being taught.

That sums it up nicely Jeff. Digital in manual mode lets me try things I wouldn't have dreamed of if shooting film.

Hope it's not too rude to cross-post I thought some examples of using the adapter would be of interest to Oly users who don't venture out to the nether regions of the PhotoCamel torso.

Going to give the OMZ 24mm f/2.8 a try next - I really need a wide angle !

The 3.5 50mm macro is a cool lens, and one that demands a bit of a premium compared to the usual Zuiko stuff - although, like most things from the film era, prices are taking a bit of a dive, and it can probably be picked up for around $100 or so. Still not quite the bargain that is the 50mm 1.8, which usually sells on ebay for around the same price as a 'genuine' OM lens cap .

I've got a Tamron f/2.5 90mm macro on its way that should turn up Monday - that should be fun. If you like working manually and accept the 2x effect of the 4/3rds sensor then there's some great stuff out there waiting to be given a new lease of life.
