May Challenge: Whipped Cream

The food photography challenge for May is: Whipped Cream.

Whether it's the topping to a steaming cup of hot chocolate, or adorning a sumptuous pie, show us your whipped cream photos.

Remember, this is a food photography board, not the "scantily clad model with whipped cream on her" board, *cough*.

Photos must be deliberately arranged and lit, not casual, "I shot this while having dinner with my ex" photos.

Have fun. Can't wait to see what you come up with!! Whipped cream isn't easy. Work fast, plan ahead.

Hhahhahahaha this is a hard challenge, apparently. I had hoped that it was a challenge whereby people wouldn't be so easily tempted to post something from their archives and, instead, go out and actually shoot just for the challenge. I didn't realize it would make so few post.

Why did you cut off the dish in the first photo?

The second one makes me laugh out loud. The whipped cream is so incongruous to the beer.

Whipped cream doesn't set you back that much.. but wow you were right.. move fast!!!

the first photo was soooo... centered..... meh...

And good, the Second was suppose to make you laugh, I went in the fridge for a hot dog but grabbed the beer instead!

Using whipped cream is difficult and I think makes this challenge more about the food than the photography. Perhaps that's why response has been so light.

Anyway, here's a shot with a pathetically small dollop of whipped cream. That was the client's choice. Proof in itself that the client is NOT always right!

Batter dipped and deep-fried key lime pie with whipped cream on top.

I'm sure I don't need to tell you that dealing with a difficult subject is part of every food photographer's job. Whipped cream is kind of like a cranky kid for a child photographer.

I love the leading lines in your photo!
