FINALLY i manage to get me a good scanner (Epson V500 for those who wonder) and at last am able to scan the film i shoot with my Mamiya 645 AFD. Very happy so far with the workflow and the quality. Sure it's a bit more dust & scratches to remove but hey, it's just a few extra minutes most of the time.
And this baby scans up to 9600 DPI. If a client ever requests that i will seriously consider slapping them ![]() Anyway, enough babbling, here is the picture. Model is Alexzandra Idh, makeup by Nina Möller / Fröken Fatale. Film was Fuji Reala. ![]() __________________

Hi there,
this appears to be a very good scanner. Your Mamiya takes very sharp pictures. I downloaded your picture and had a look at the highlights, and find that you've blown out highlights (side lighting). I presume that this is on purpose. However bringing down the highlights in your picture reveals (probably) too much skin detail in the models face ![]() Cheers, Sean. |

Hey Sean =) yepp. lets call it intentional
Nah, to be entirely honest, im still learning the scanner (and relearning shooting with the mamiya This was a test roll from a shoot that was done in its entirely digital with a canon 40D, but inbetween using the 40D for the finished shots, i grabbed the mamiya and did some experimenting and some of the frames are a tad overexposed until i got it right. Its quite nice workflow though for me, a roll of film including processing & a contact sheet is about $20-25 (€15) and i can now definately do the scanning myself. So, shoot a roll, get it developed in a few days, get the contact & negatives and scan away. Sure, i'd love a digital back, but i need to rob more banks first ![]() |

Thanx. And of course, if you have clients paying the way you always have the option of renting one for the job and billing that cost to the client.
Now i just need to get clients who worry about resolution so much they demand medium format. They are not common around me unfortunately, everone is just happy with normal DSLR quality. __________________
