Default Kodak B&W400CN

Hey this is my first real thread! I picked up a roll of Kodack B&W400CN on the cheap and wondered if I could push it a couple stops... and get decent results. I heard that black and white film can be pushed more than color negative, but this is B&W color negative.

I am just getting into photography and I am pretty bad at it! I don't mind experimenting but I don't to waste the roll either. I thought if I shot at 1600 ISO I could get some great low light shots of my musician friends.

Any thoughts?

You can push C41 process BW film just as you can push regular BW film. When you push film, BW or color, you won't gain any shadow density. You will move the mid tones and the highlights but your shadows will suffer from lack of exposure at any ISO above the film's original rating.

So my shadows will loose detail and become black? I kind of like that sometimes. It can be a cool effect. I'll try to be careful to take shots with that in mind as I could see how it could ruin some.

Thanks Rense. It will take a while but I'll post my shots when the rolls done.
