Hmmm... this is an interesting thread as in general society tends to focus more on the female body as a form of beauty in proportion to the male form. (Dave... I looked at your site and you have some AWESOME work... but I noted too that you have ONE male model to FIFTEEN female models! )

As to the comment on the ugliness of the 'male member'... I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder ( ).

I personally can't address the O.P. comment referencing gay male photograpers, but personally I dont thing a photographer needs to be gay or male to photograph male models... heck... just SIGN ME UP...oh... unfortunately there is ZERO call for that type of photography in this area... oh well it is not for the lack of my willingness to pull out the ol' camera!

I wouldn't say that a gay photographer would prefer to post pictures of women

I think the gay comment was about the viewers, not photographers. The assumption would be that a gay man would be more likely to enjoy a fashion or glamor shot of a man than a straight man, and for different reasons. It's no secret that many straight men find fashion/glamor shots of beautiful woman titillating. So why not use the same logic to entice more posts of male glamor?

I'm not gay, but I find a good picture of a man very compelling. That fact that a man can be portrayed in a way that is appealing to me says quite a bit about the technique used by the photographer. Just as much skill, if not more is probably required to attract attention from a viewer that may not be interested in the subject matter. I think if more were posted, the comments might start flowing. Look at all the feedback Benji gets in Portraiture for all the well made "Senior Boy" posts. Men and women get equal treatment there, without the primal motivation. Why not here and in the 18+ forums?

Well, in my experience it's like this: Women are more keen on getting photographed.. I mean, only once (!) a guy asked me to photograph him.. And he is a very good friend who trusted me enough to know I didn't view him as a narcistic person. And nothing gay about it either, he just liked photos that I had taken of girls, and thought that I probably could do it with a male subject too. My fav photog was Herb Ritts, but not because he was gay, and he shot 50/50 men and women, but his use of shadows and texture was way ahead of anyone else..

Here is one from the session with my friend..
