Default Little help needed

Looking through my files and ran across this one. It's a good example of what I need help on. It appears that her lips are chapped. I'm afraid I don't have the photoshop skills to improve the looks of her lips. If anyone out there has a method I would like to hear from you. I just have never figured out how to correct this kind of a problem. D50 1/250 f5.6 ISO 200 bounce flash.

Thanks Dwight

Outline the mouth generously with the lasso tool. Ctrl+J to make it a layer. Make adjustments in saturation, use the clone tool or healing tool, what ever you want to experiment with. Make a layer mask of what you've done then reveal it with the white brush. Adjust the overall opacity with the slider on the layer maksk. Once you are satisfied with the look, flatten the image.

That's only one way to skin the cat but it works for me

Pretty much similar to what Songman said, but I actually add a bit of color tone to it, and some light glitter to offset that patchy look. Probably took this too far towards red from the fleshy pink that she had originally. I also touched up the brightness a bit, to me it felt just a tad overexposed, so softened the look a tiny bit while adding just a tiny bit of color warmth.

I used a pink fill layer masked on the lips set to color. I than On a copied layer burned around the edges inner and outer than dodged in the highlight. I also cloned a few of the more noticeable marks.

I softened the skin too for shits and giggles

Yikes! Both Chromenut and moonshadow gave her plastic looking skin when all he asked for was help on her chapped lips.

Well, if he doesn't like it then it was just a suggestion anyway. Better luck next time....

Dang, I didn't get to give her plastic skin. Now my feelings are hurt. Woah, cool trick with the 10% blur tool. How come someone always has this easy way to do something when I want to over technify it? But can you plasticize skin? (Joking, lighten up)

Thanks to all of you for the help. Now I just have to go practice and see what I can do. As a side note: This young lady had the best skin I have ever photographed. Nothing really done to the skin in the original photo; levels, contrast. Thanks again for your help.
Dwight
