Default Kristy - 1st tungsten/natural light shoot

Hi folks, I've not really been around for 6 mos or so due to research/dissertation stuff, but anyhow, I thought I'd post a few recent shots I had taken.

One of my friends was having a shoot with 2 models, but unfortunately, we did not have a wireless strobe setup, so I didn't shoot plugged in very much. However, I decided to work on my natural light/environmental portrait techniques with the model not being used at the time (basically to keep the other model from getting bored and to see if I could get something even remotely pleasing). As such, I wasn't sure whether to place it on this board (she's a "model") or on the people board.

These were taken during the intense storms that passed through the Midwest on Sunday. I shot either handheld or resting on a table, at either ISO 800 or 1600, and with either the 85/1.8 or the 135/2 wide open or almost wide open (EXIF should be intact). I understand that these might not be the sharpest of shots (this was my first time really using these lenses), so with that having been said, I am more concerned with the capture of the personality than with the sharpness at the moment.

Your opinions are welcomed and much appreciated.

1 - right before the storm outside with silver fill on her right.

2 - inside the waiting room of the studio with 2 incandescents and 2 silver reflectors for fill.

3 - inside and variation on lighting in #2

4 - in between my friend's shots while he was plugged into the strobes (I do wish there was more light on her face, but really liked the expression).

5 - waiting for my friend to download his card to the laptop. I'm not sure how I got a CCD width of 3.21mm

6 - incandescent lighting again; my fave shot of the entire session.

By the way, some of you might not like the "darker"/more contrasty processing, but I prefer that kind of mood. Thanks again!

All of them look really good to me. Number 4 could use mor elight in her face like you said, but still pretty good.

I saw tungsten/natural in the subject and got really excited...

I'm very disappointed they're in black and white

I love that "tungsten yellow"

I think you did real well on these and she'll probably be happy with them.
I like #5 the best. Good job

Yes! Great work done by all hard to pick just one. I guess you are right #4 seems a bit dark, but great pose. Kudos to all involved.

Thanks everyone for your kind words. I'm glad you guys thought they were "hopefully" better than snapshots!

And Jon, I apologize - while I liked the tungsten tones (which I sorta kept in the last one), I prefer contrasty B&W images usually. I'm still going through the set, so perhaps I'll include a few "raw" ones for you!

No apology necessary - it's your stuff and I kinda feel like an ass for saying that, I just had different expectations.

Definitely better than snapshots.

A beautiful model and she's been captured looking very relaxed with nice lighting.
