I have a request to do that out of almost every client I get. Just seems funny to me. Maybe we see it so much we are tiered of it I guess, not real sure though. |

i really like the second to last from this series (white bg, looking down). Her makeup looks very nice and i love when they are not looking straight into the camera. Funny, cause I also read somewhere that most people go for the shots where they are looking into the camera. lol |

You have the main light very low, to the point the shadow is going up on her face in the first image. Also the large catch light is distracting....was not able to concentrate on the rest of her face or features as I was stuck looking at those eyes.

What color are her eyes really? Blue or green? I like #2 the most. I also like 1, 4, and 5 though I do see the shadow problem in #1.
I'm not crazy about the last one of the first post. I'd prefer either the whole thing subdued or the whole thing normal. Disagree w/ above poster on the catchlights being too big, but yeah her eyes are catchy. |

You have mistaken my comment about the light being very low. The height of the light...is very low...the shadows going upward is a technique used in Hollywood for HORROR pictures. When the shadows go in the wrong direction it then confuses the brain of the viewer. It is not a way to be complimentary to the subject.

I absolutely love the first three. No surprise there though. She could be a great alternative model. The dark tones suit her very nice. Especially with those eyes. I am not fond of the style of the last two. Great images. Just a personal choice though cause I love the first three so much.

I couldn't get past the overly done lips in the first two images. While I love the eyes and her expressions, I am bothered by the lips. Even in the black and white the lips are over the top IMHO.
I agree with camrajoky about the lighting. I think you did ok but could have done better. Keep working with her and you will have a home run. |

What I mean by over done lips is that the lips should not draw the attention of the viewer away from the model's face and eyes. The lips should be an accent the rest of the image not be the main draw. I love the eyes but cannot get my attention off of the lips to view the rest of the lovely face.
The dark black on the bottom lip is my main gripe. IMHO it is too heavy for the rest of the image. Even in the b&w image the lips still draw the most attention.Using the excuse that these are a "bit more over the top images, not really for the faint of heart" doesn't cut it. One must understand the use of make up to enhance not over power the image. ![]() That is what I mean. I hope you understand what I am try to say. The problem is only with the first 3 images. ![]() Quote:
