I'm like in a rut bigtime and i can't seem to break out and take my shots to the next level. I think this is a decent shot but it's missing something to take it to that next level. Is it my lighting? Is it my post processing? What can i do to improve?

lol. This is actually true. The pose and expression are part of the problem here. Also, parts of her jacket are blown out, completely without detail. Same goes for parts of her face. As to the expression, what is it trying to convey? It's something between confusion and astonishment, perhaps with a touch of anger, as I see it. And the sunglasses? Why does she have these on in the studio? Same could be asked about the coat and scarf thing.

What you need to do is download images that you see that you like, and then try to emulate them with your models. This will teach you new poses, new ideas, and keep you fresh and challenged.

Can you reshoot with the suggestions provided and are you metering your light?
