Default I miss B&W film

I used to shoot more B&W than color, by about 3:1. I processed my own film and hand printed my favorites (yeah, I hand printed color… It’s not easy, but it’s fun). There is a LOT of craft involved in doing all that yourself, and I’m sad to say that I’ve lots a big hunk of that wet lab skill.

I guess I’m just going to have to live with the loss, but it’s not that bad really. I can actually make better looking prints through Photoshop than I could in the darkroom (I wasn’t that good) but it’s not the same if you know what I mean. I was thinking about this a few minuets ago while I was looking at some of the prints from this session with Audra rolling out of the printer just now.

Anyway, when I was prepping for this session I knew I wanted to do something a bit different… something somewhat gritty and I got a taste of mirrors during the fitness shoot with Julie and liked it, so I went looking more.

I don’t think we did tooo badly and what makes it even better is that we both had fun. The edge light photos we shot at the end or our session was the main purpose for our shoot… I just wanted to get some other photos made before I got her wet.

I tried a couple different light modifiers to see which I liked better, the grided soft box worked best I think, the grided bare reflector was probably a little to harsh with the water but even those are pretty good.
