Not a real model, but since I stick my nose in here to critique, I'll give you all an example of what I would do if I had a model to photograph.
Comments and critique deserved. T lynd 2 lnscp.jpg T lynd 6.jpg T lynd 7.jpg __________________

She is as much a model as most who claim to be models in these parts Fran. She has the looks for it but I know posing isn't very high on her list of things to do with her free time.
![]() This is a very good set. You have a very good eye for "seeing the light" and are one of the best on the forum at using natural light. My favorite of these is the first shot. Love her expression and using the porch to frame her is great. My only feedback would be on #3. If you would have had her turn her face a little toward the wall you would have had short lighting and thinned her face. Not that she needs it at all, but this lighting makes her face round and is not as flattering to her as it could be. Nice first post to the Model forum btw! |

Fran, I really like these 3 images. #s 1 and 3 are the knockouts though.
In #1 you have captured well a gawky looking pose and it comes off well. It is something I try occasionally with my models, some days it works, some days not. The framing is very well done along with the lighting. In #2, you have captured a sense of style or elegance in the model. Beautiful lighting and pose really lift this one. #3 is my least favourite. I suspect its an awkward stance that I am seeing perhaps. Really nice but just not quite as good as the other two for my taste. |

Ok I am where I can see these better and type so here goes.
Fran they are a great first post. The natural light is clean and even if maybe a bit flat that is ok as it gives a good commercial look to the set. Keep in mind when working with models and shooting full body that most of the same rules you follow in portraiture still apply here. Things like poses startingat the foundation, line of sight within the frame, if there are 2 of them make them different, doesn't square up etc. all apply here the sakes as I portraits. In #1 the first thing that grabs my attention is the fore shortening of the legs? Because both knees appear in the same plane she has no thigh and the knees appear to sprout from her hips. Simply changing levels with one knee would open up the upper leg to the lens and allow the legs to contribute to the overall line of sight in the image. She wold seem longer and leaner as a result. Also her arms are held in tight to the body, couple this with the half on jacket and there is no separation between arms and body, thus the arms become part of the body and add thickness and mass to the image. Even an inch of separation slims and helps establish her feminine curves. Ultimately the limbs establish triangles and the torso s curves. When combined they give the eye a dimensional pathway to explore the image and define, shape, texture, dimension and perspective of the image. When the body becomes closed down and level on its foundation it is never as flattered as it can be.. Just food for thought for next time. Remember it is not the models job to be photogenic but the photographers job to show the world how photogenic our subjects are. Through well thought out and directed posing it is possible to make anyone look better then they ever thought they could. Still for a first post these are great, your use of outdoor lighting and the obvious level of comfort and communication that existed between you and your subject is appearant in her expressions. She is happy and having fun which is half the battle. I hoe we will see much more of your work here in the fashion forum. |

Welcome to full body models Fran. Thicken up your skin cause learning her can be rough and I'm the poster boy.
![]() I like #1 for the classic " broken doll" model pose and the DOF. #2 doesn't do a lot for me and, of course, Bobby points out the problems with the pose widening her out. #3 is my favorite of the set. I like the light, the pose and the depth behind her. Helluva nice job all around. ![]() |
