Default First post, first shoot in a long time.

Hello to all. Blinky refered me here a couple of weeks ago and after spending time in the backgroung I have decided to post.

Some history. I have a degree in phorography, but have not used it in more years than I care to think about, and when I did it was darkroom work so people were not my forté.

I have been looking to get back into this, but coming from a small town models can be difficult to find, at least at first. A short time ago I found one. She just turned 19 and the only other time she has posed was for senior portraits. She is new and I am rusty, but* we approched this as a learning experience, which it definately was. However, I came away with more keepers than I had planned.

Blinky, I know that the shadows are now what I want, but the wind was blowing and just the two of us went out so my reflectors and deflectors were not cooperating. Next time we will have someone else along

Good to see your shoot happened as planned... she's pretty cute! Looks like you had good soft light to work with, exposure is on the money.... I suppose the wind explains that grip she has on the tree. Hard to say with one image but she looks like she can be pretty expressive with a camera on her.

Excellent work for coming off the couch cold like that... I'm looking forward to more.

BTW, thank you very much for the help with my website issue, I'm resting easier now.

If any of the dogs around here seem to bite... it's because they care enough to try to help. You won't find any assholes on the Camel... well, except for Don... and um, Jon... well, then there is BillGeorge and JimmyD and Daniel... am I leaving anybody out?

Good luck with that model. You have another shoot lined up?

Chip

When she relaxed the expression flowed from her whole body, definately has potential for much more depth in her modeling.

I can deal with assholes, my skin has toughened up over the years. As long as they can take it back I don't have a problem.

Nothing lined up yet, but the plans are in the works. On the way to the shoot I stopped at the local dime store. The cashier & I got talking, she is interested in me taking photos of her daughter. I told her I am not interested in doing "senior portraits"* I get along too well with the local photographer, and could not compete with him anyway. She said "No she just has ideas and nobody in the family knows how to work them out." So potential is rising, even is a small town, once ya get going.

She's a real cutie. I'm partial to red heads. I like her expressions and the way you captured the highlights in her eyes.

My only comment is that the skin color looks like it contains more magenta in the first shot, while in the second shot it has a slight green tint. Do you use auto white balance?

Welcome to PhotoCamel and I hope you post more!

I am WAY partial to redheads, almost to a fault. In her case it would not have mattered, as a model I would have used her if it were green, selective color comes in handy in fixing things like that.

I agree that the skin tone was not quite right on #1. We were experimenting and i was not too concerned with white balance as I will be now that I know that we work well together. The problem was that with the sun behind her and my prosumer camera exposure was not perfect so I corrected with PS. When her skin was right in all else was off to the piont of total distraction of image. As this was a test outing I am more concerned with pose & experssion.

The second shot lost a lot of the warmth in tone when it compressed.

Thanks for pointing it out tho, in this case I was very aware, but next time I may not be.
