I found Raven to be introspective and unique so I tried some different processing techniques. She has really bright pink hair which, at my early learning level, provided some challenges. I played around with desaturation, B&W and diffusing.

Cool series
In photo #1 her right hand is posed in a counter productive way. In photo #2 a little more light in the eyes is needed IMO. #4 is my favorite. Good job. |

Hi,
I like the way you have toned down her hair in the first image. I disagree with Bob B that the right hand doesn't work. I like what you were trying to do. On the other hand (literary - okay that was bad) I think her left hand because of the way it is lighted and how she is forcing it looks hard and edgy which IMHO distracts for the lines you were aiming for. You could crop it out of the shot. I love the pose and her expression of your #2 shot. It is to bad that you didn't get more light into her eyes / face. The picture I like the most is #4. I again (I guess I have issues with left hands) have issues with her left hand. I keep hearing in the back of my mind Benji's rule #24 Rule 24. Don’t Photograph The Back of Women's Hands.* The sides are much more graceful than the flat of the hand. The Rules Of Good Portraiture |

I agree in #1 the right hand is claw like and showing to much strength and strain with the tight grip and wide spaced fingers
The perspective of her left hand has created significant lens distortion causing the hand to seem large and manish. I would have considered having her either drop the hand or bring it under the hair close to the face with the palm edge toward the camera. #3 & # 4 are both very moody and evocative images that I like very much. In #4 though her hand is very dominating, they really are quite large for a female I think rather then the odd crop through her knees I miught try a little tighter crop in mid thigh to crop out the hand and maybe balance the lower 1/3 of the image a little better |

Beautiful. I like #4, specially the pink hair. It's different. However, I noticed that the right hand seems out of proportion. What lens did yo use?
BTW, where do you get these beautiful models (Raven and Elena)? |

When I realized I wanted to start photographing models I had no idea how to go about finding them. I don't have studio space or much equipment. I found a Meet-up group that hosted glamour and fashion shoots and started attending. After the main event, you can book the models privately for one-on-one shoots. All of the images I post are from the one-on-one sessions where I get to play with the lighting and do everything on my own. For instance, in # 2and #3 I took a silhouette class and tried to use what I learned from there. Didn't come out as good when under instruction but I love the practicing aspect. Sometimes I'll take the model outside and work with using my speedlights and softbox. This has enabled me to build my Model Mayhem portfolio and I'm now getting a chance to shoot models on my own and I've done 2 senior picture shoots as well. I'm having fun a lot of fun learning lighting and the group of guys I shoot with are all into photography (not the GWC types). I've just been absorbing as much as I can and trying to shoot every week. Thanks, Tom __________________
