I'm not sure why but my first post looks all messed up when displayed so I am reposting my questions again.
I am lost on what would be the best type of prints to have made.
I am getting ready to display six large prints ranging from 24x30 to 30x40, fully framed and matted and I want these to be considered as "fine art" prints. I am having a hard time deciding what would be the best material to print these on.

I don't have a lot of $$ but I don't want these to be "cheap" prints so I'd like to do what would be a minimum printing but still have good quality for display. If you were going to display these large prints in a nice facility what would you print them on.

1. What paper would you use?
2. Would you have it mounted and laminated on foam board if not how would you mount it? I think this is the biggest issue I'm struggling with.
3. ???

I just don't know what to specify when ordering prints b/c of all the options available.
I did do one for myself that was mounted and laminated for around $120 but this seems to be overboard but maybe not???

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I'm new, I will post an intro, but I wanted to ask a quick question first. Does anyone have any first hand experience (or 2nd hand good knowledge) of how dye vs pigment inks work out like in the real world? I am buying myself an A3 printer very soon, I had pretty much settled on the Canon Pixma Pro9000 but then I saw the 9500 had a couple more black cartridges and pigment ink instead of dye. How much better is pigment ink, in your experience? Or is it better? Anyone used/tested both printers and have any idea if the extra $$$ is worth it? This printer is stretching the budget way out of shape as it is! Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi,

I have an Epson R800. It has been in storage for 2 years. I realise that the ink would be dried up by now and the printer heads are probably clogged. Is there an easy way of determining whether the printer will still work after all this time. Or would it be best to throw it away and start again?

Thanks,
