I have a little Olympus D535 that has been a good little camera. it had gotten dropped off the table last year but continued to work, I just had to hold the battery compartment shut a certain way. A few weeks ago I was shooting inside and it started going out of focus then lines across the screen and shut down. It hasn't fired up since. Is this a permanent issue or is there something that can be reset on it or ?? I bought it new 4 years ago and have never had a problem with it so hate to just toss it if it's "fixable" but don't know where any of the books etc that came with it went. I've got another one (used) on the way but just wondered on the original.

With the other issues from dropping it, I would say there are internal problems and with the drop in cost as well as the increase in features over the past 4 years.....I would say that the fact that you got the additional time you got out of it post drop....you would be cheaper to pick up a new one but the cost of repair could be more.

Sounds like it's probably gone. You could send it in for an estimate, but probably cheaper just to get a new one.

Un fortunatly the way electronics are made today with large scale integration, surface mounted componets etc. just about every thing is disposable. If it cost less than about $200 it's just not worth the expense of repair.

Thanks for the feedback - I got a replacement postage paid on ebay for $40 so it's not like a huge expense. I just wasn't sure if it was a salvage situation or not. I've gotten some great photos for what it is - something to practice on until I can get the bigger/nicer/more feature one! Time to start socking away a few $ here and there I guess. Things change so fast with anything electronic anymore! I'd hate to guess how many photos have run through it!
