Is anyone here using CS3 with the new Apple Nehalem processor? I was told by one guy at the Apple store I'd have to go to CS4 or it would be slow as a snail but a different guy at different Apple store says will run fine. I want to upgrade to Mac Pro from MacBook Pro but would like to not have to update to CS4 possibly causing a ripple effect with all the plugins I am using. Any experience here? Additionally would like to know if you've used both MacBook Pro and Mac Pro and how much difference in performance you saw - particularly in LightRoom. Interested in opinions on one vs two processors too. Was told the extra processor was primarily of benefit in rendering HD video as opposed to PS.

Sorry I can't be of any help to you, but as someone who uses Photoshop (although I already have CS4) and is about to buy a Mac Pro, I'd be interested in the answers to your questions too.

My understanding is CS3 will work with the SL and newer systems through Rosetta. CS3 and CS4 are not native OS X (read Intel) applications. They both require, I believe, Rosetta to work.
Athena, you will need to purchase the cross-over license. I did that 18 months ago when I switched from Windows and PSCS to OS X and PSCS3. The cost was about $150 at the time. You can find information I believe on the Adobe site. Take care, |

Tony - I have been looking on the Adobe site and can not find a single breath or whisper about changing platforms. I had CS3 and upgraded to CS4 already, so I can't change platforms with an upgrade (which would be ideal). Unless I can upgrade a 2nd time on one serial number..

Try these instructions.
Adobe Cross Platform Upgrade How To | Tyler Nichols Weblog My transfer cost more because I was moving from PS CS to PS CS3. I also received new media from Adobe directly. |
