Still, it's a good idea before you install Windows 7 to make a list of your peripherals and stop by the Web sites of the manufacturers to see whether Windows 7 drivers are already available. If they are, download them and have them handy during the installation of Windows 7. If they're not, perform a general search of the Internet to try to determine whether others have had problems with your particular equipment under Windows 7. Be aware, too, that while Windows 7 may automatically install a driver for a particular device that you have, the Microsoft-supplied driver might not have all of the features of the driver you're used to using with Vista or XP. Some duplexing HP printers, for example, get installed properly under Windows 7 but fail to print on both sides of the paper, regardless of driver settings. Quote:

Here is what I can say about windows 7. It's great. I have been running it for a couple of months now and have not have any problems. I installed it on a 4 year old laptop and it runs great. There wasn't a windows 7 driver for the video card so I thought to myself I wonder if the XP driver would work and it did without question. I have it on my computer at work and home both 64bit and the only issue is that if you run the 64bit IE and hit a web page that has flash you will have a problem because there is no 64bit flash so you have to use the 32bit IE. Other than that it really nice.

For sake of clarity; this is not the fault of Windows or Microsoft but you as the user of that OS. Take responsibility for whatever carelessness lead to you getting that virus and stop blaming the OS.
Viruses are user initiated, not OS initiated. ![]() This is where I begin to rant... As an experienced windows user I have not had a virus in over 10yrs. However, I support my, rather, large families computer issues over and over again because people fall for stupid gimmicks over and over again. They, too, try to blame the OS but I always make sure they understand that they were to blame and not the OS. Until you understand that your actions allowed the virus in to your system you will never be free of viruses on windows machines. Yeah, you may not get viruses on your Mac machine but that is because Mac takes up an entire 10% of the user base in the US. Statistically PC's will always have more viruses because the user base is so vast. The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. I can guarantee that if Mac had 90% install base in the US you would see just as many attacks on that OS, if not more, compared to a Windows machine. In my closing rant statement: Macs are not perused by malicious software coders because it is near pointless to do so because the install base will not yield any significant results compared to a Windows platform. There is nothing a Mac can do that a PC can do and there is nothing a PC can do that a Mac cannot do. We are talking about software and hardware and the only limiting factor here is developer support. Again, Mac takes up 10% of the US computer install base why develop for such a small user base when you can make much more money developing for a Windows platform? Rantidy rant rant off. |

Interesting...my desktop came with Vista 32bit Home Premium SP1 and I never had any trouble. Except for when I installed a USB wireless network adapter and started getting BSOD's, but a quick driver upgrade fixed that. Do you have the latest service packs and updated drivers?

.. On top of that I went through the nightmare of it deleting all of my desktop icons and folders at will too.. which is a huge and common problem when the screen resolution changes. I finally had to just shut off the screen saver altogether. I never did recover all of the lost files. Kat |

You know that the only extra thing you get with 7 Ultimate over 7 professional Is Bit Locker and multi language support. It not like what they did with XP and VIsta. |

So in this poll can you select two operating systems or is the arithmetic up the shoot? Last time I looked the total was at 117%
![]() .......mmm just noticed it was a multiple choice poll which makes the percentages a bit of a waste of time! |

Whats the difference between 7 premium, pro, and ultimate?
Is there any difference that the casual user will notice? I dont do any special setups. Heck, I hardly use my computer for anything then internet surfing, and photoshopping. I dont even use it for gaming anymore (not that they make many games for the pc anymore that isnt sim something). Dont even know if its worth upgrading from xp for me. __________________
