I owned a computer store for 5 years here in Colombia and imported systems from Amptron (made in Indonesia) and distributed them.
One of my best sellers was a small PC called a "book PC", both Celeron and AMD
K6-500.
One of the units I sold died within a month and I took it back under warrantee and just kept it as it cost more to return to the factory than it was worth...a K6-500. I had determined that the power supply had quit and it was a "one of a kind" and not replaceable.
Monday I was rummaging around in my storage room and decided to have a look inside of it..It was still dead so I took apart the power supply and found a bad solder joint underneath the board. I resoldered it and low and behold it fired right up.
This is about 8 years old so is slower than a modern PC but with the 500 mhz CPU and 128 mb of ram it a pretty good office PC,
I loaded CS2 and tried to convert a couple raw images from my Fuji S2 and talk about slow.....I could have rolled a cigarette and smoked it before it loaded completely but it's still fun to resurect the dead,.........
