Default FireFox, Am I the Only One Getting Fed Up?

Is it just me, or is FireFox getting worse? The last couple of years or so there have been constant updates and all they seem to do is slow it down and at times cause it to freeze up and I need to log off and start over. Happened twice yesterday. Some times after closing it down and doing a restart later it says it is still running. If I should consider a different browser, what do you suggest other than internet explorer. Thanks

For some reason, my firefox doesn't pull up at all anymore. I've gone to Chrome, but will move to either Maxthon or Flock as Chrome has some problems as well.

I got fed up with FF after one of their big version upgrades a few years ago and never went back.

I get that occasionally, but not very often. I always just open up task manager and do an end process on the firefox that is running, and then it will fire back up.

I hear that Chrome is good, but I still use FF.

Been using FF for a while now and have never had any problems other than on certain versions it had slowed down a bit.

Now, I'm using 3.5.2 and to me it feels not only the fastest Version but kills IE in any form. But, this new version is also being used on my brand new Vista Home Premium 64bit uncluttered Laptop, only three weeks old.

haven't really had any problems, Chrome is nice but I still prefer ff. Maxathon I tried as well it was bad per but I did read that it does have a lot of vulnerabilities. The only time I really run into ff problems is when I have facebook open but its a hog of a site.

I'm not having issues with FireFox and I've been using it since 1.x

I've tried Safari, Chrome, Opera, IE 7 and IE 8, but prefer Firefox for 95% of my browsing use.

I tried it recently, really gave it a shot. It was slower than IE all around and generally just not as cool, IMO. I prefer IE 8. Have Chrome as well. Don't miss Firefix.

Before giving up on FF you should run some good anti virus and spyware programs and also a free program call ccleaner that gets rid of alot of temp and cache file that can slow down a computer. You can find it at filehippo.

Thanks for this idea, but fortunately I heard about doing this before and have given it a try. Maybe its my PC that's the problem. It is about 4 years old now and gets used daily. I appreciate all the other comments as well. Thanks everyone.

Just curious Mr. Austin what browser you went to, or still use since throwing FF under the bus? Which is what I feel like doing right now.

FF is slow as snails for me too. Takes forever to start up, and to Quit. I use Safari now. Works a lot better.

Chrome is from the Walmart of the Internet. I wonder what will happen when Google's competition is gone. Will it still be free?

I downloaded Safari to give it a try. Looks like It will take some getting used to, but appears intuitive. Thanks for the suggestions.

I think part of it may be in the extensions and themes you use. That being said, my install of the latest is pretty slow and I'm getting freezes. I'm running it on a linux box. Chrome, while lacking a couple of features in the linux version, is much faster. It still needs a little polish and I don't think it's quite ready for prime time. But... it's still in beta. Opera 10 is out and is very fast with many of the options that Firefox requires extensions for built-in.
