I found it really strange a couple of mornings ago when I awake to my computer displaying the results of my Scheduled AVG antivirus scan. AVG had identified virus' on my computer (PC) that needed to be removed. And so I did.
What was strange however - and something that I immediately commented to my wife about - - - was that the long list of files that were detected and being moved the Virus Vault, all contained components of either ITunes or Ipod. I was surprised and have never witnessed any issues with Itunes in the past. I didn't pay much attention until last night (Monday) when I was at my brother-in-laws house getting a new terrabyte hard drive and eSata toaster from him (his business is selling computers) - and before leaving he asked if I got hit with the Itunes virus? It then made me suspicious that AVG could well have wrongly defined Itunes files as virus'. I planned on checking into the issue today. Well before I got to get into a search, this morning when I go to open my ITunes APP I get a dialogue box saying that ITunes cannot be opened because essential files are missing. And so I reinsalled Itunes and everything works as normal. After doing that, I proceeded to search the web - and it ttok no time at all to find that AVG had indeed distributed an update that wrongly identified ITunes files as virus'. After reading about it on blogs and forums, I finally went to the "horses mouth" and found this result that may be of value to others who went through the same thing that i and many others have over the last couple of days: Technical Bulletins - AVG Software | AVG antivirus & Internet security software support At any rate, it is a simple reinstall of ITunes (or restoring from Virus Vault if that hasn't been cleared -and making sure the latest AVG update has been done - - - and all is well. ![]() __________________

Nope, macbit. They're still popping up every time I click a group or thread title or Reply button. And it's only with Photocamel. With no other websites or forums. In Safari and in Firefox on OSX, and in Firefox for Windows under Crossover. So it's not the browser or the browser preferences. Or the OS for that matter. They function correctly for all websites and forums, but not for the camel. So, for me, the Photocamel site/server is the common denominator here.

No bother? Except that you need to spend money – every year – on proper anti-virus apps and updates, as well as that you need to keep a permanent vigil...
But to you that's not bothersome of course, because you're used to it. How convenient. |

No, because the prob is with Photocamel, not with any other OS, browser, browser preferences, or other websites.
So the prob is not on my side. Wherefore it is impossible for me to fix it. If anyone can it's on the Photocamel server side. BTW, mcbit, the popups have now changed behavior: they still pop up every time I click a group or thread title or Reply button, but some now 'pop down' a half second later again (without intervention from me). |

Are they ads or something else? Based on your description, it almost sounds like a system "please wait" type message. The popping down would be the end of the wait time. That's the only popup I've ever seen, and then only when having internet problems where everything is running slow. And then I've only seen it a day or two.

The only time I have anything pop up on Photocamel is when I click on a post link and it opens another tab in Firefox.

Random ads (Louis Vuitton Handbags - Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Fendi, Gucci, Prada, at www.glamorebags.com, freezyclik.com - Home), and totally random websites. Like BuildTraffic.com :: Advertisement, or Natural Medicine Courses, Natural Medicine College, Natural Medicine Schools, Naturopathy Courses, Homeopathy Courses, Herbal Medicine Courses, Natural Therapy Courses, Aromatherapy Courses, Natural Therapies College. This one is recurring over and over right now: scrapbook-elements.com,

Sounds a lot like malware to me!
![]() If Macs are invulnerable how could Photocamel be directing your browser to do things which you don't want it to do? ![]() __________________
