so this is my situation...
...when I open internet explorer my computer freezes then when I restart it and I click on my user name to log in and it freezes. over and over again. the only way then to get into my computer is to go into safe mode, then when I restart from safe mode and try loging in on my user name in normal mode it will work... but then explorer still will freeze it... -I've used Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to try to remove anything bad, and AVG to look for something that would be attacking me.. but there both clean... at this point I would say to just reinstall windows.. but with this computer I would like to avoid it if at all possible! any tips or advice would be helpful!! __________________ unreal flash Phase One __________________

I did read somewhere that IE8 has had some bugs with certain anti-spyware programs. When I upgraded to IE8 I found that I could not open new tabs without the computer freezing - I ended up moving back to IE7 and that solved the problem. I did try firefox (but it seemed very slow) and google chrome (which I quite liked) before heading back to IE7.

This is exactly why the European Union fined Microsoft 1,5 billion bucks: they stiff their customers – you – with a garbage browser. As you found out. So get rid of IE asap and use Safari, Firefox, or Chrome. In that order. Better still: get rid of Windows altogether and get a Mac. |

I don't mean this to be sarcastic, but when the time comes to replace, consider a MAC. After being a long time PC user, you will have to pry my Mac's from my cold dead hands.
Safari for PC is quite stable. Firefox for me was stable for quite some time, but near the end it was getting quite laggy when i started it where IE was not. |

Try FireFox by Mozilla, I switched years ago and haven't looked back since. The best move in browsers I have made. While you are at it you might give their Thunderbird email software a try too. It is much more stable than the old M$ Outlook Express that I used to use...
The latest FireFox version is 3.5.1 Here is a link to the FREE FireFox download... Mozilla | Firefox web browser & Thunderbird email client The latest Thunderird version is 2.0.0.22 Here is a link to the FREE Thunderbird download... Thunderbird - Reclaim your inbox I think you will be pleasantly surprised at the difference they make. The migration to both of theses applications is quite painless. They optionally import your bookmarks and address book as part of the installation. __________________
