Microsoft started a new trial to rival Google with its BING search (bing.com)
some translate the name to But-Its-Not-Google ![]() ![]() ![]() I will give it a try over the next couple of days/weeks as my primary search engine. I think it would be good to have a bigger competition to google. Some things I like so far: The translation tool gives side by side comparison and lets you translate into other languagues other than your standard language. Searching for images has some neat tools like filter for color or black and wide images or images with peoples faces only, head and shoulders Not perfect yet but promising start. For news I like the google style a bit better because it lets me restrict to german or Uk news for example. [Edit: actually its possible by changing the language on top] __________________

I'm running it in VMware on a MacBook Pro. But it goes like molasses. And it still "looks & feels" like Windows... And it's still very susceptible to malware... Need I say more? Maybe I ought to try running it in BootCamp?

The pure search is somewhat ok and I could live here without google. Hard to say what gives better results since there is no authority to tell you google is right or MS. I use google news a lot. The news search on google is WAY better. Its a little like a portal and gives me an overview of whats going on. This also includes some pics so it feels more like a virtual newspaper. I think the presentation layer stinks: They spend so much money for that? I like the way google presents results just better. I don't need a background with a mountain or whatever. So far google wins hands down (unfortunately) IMHO. |
