Default Compact Flash Card Reader

My camera uses compact flash memory cards. Currently I use a USB attached card reader for downloading photos. This process seems to be really slow. I believe the USB ports on my laptop are USB 1.0. Now here is my question. On my laptop I have a SD, MS, Pro MMC, XD slot. Is there an adapter I can plug into that slot that will accommodate my compact flash memory cards?

Thanks

I've never seen an adapter as such, but that doesn't necessarily mean there isn't one out there. You might look into (if your laptop doesn't have USB 2.0 slots) getting a PCMCIA card with USB 2.0 ports on it. You also should probably check and make sure your card-reader is USB-2.0 compatible (it will have the USB 2.0 Hi-Speed logo on it, make sure it says Hi-speed, otherwise its no different than 1.0). This could also be dependent on the speed of your CF cards, as they can run slower than USB 1.0. Probably the easiest way to check the USB ports on your laptop would be to go to your manufacturer's web-site and search their support site for your laptop's model number. Then find the spec sheet for your laptop and read about the USB ports
