Hi all
I do a few Team photos that has the names of the players. I own a Toshiba Satellite that is supposed to do this. However both "Enter" keys takes me out of the text layer so when I get to the end of the line I cannot get to a second line in the same text layer. Any ideas. Mal __________________

I can't be positive about this, as I don't have CS4 installed, but perhaps this may help. To get a new line in many programs where a text box is created you need to do a CTRL+ENTER. No guarantee. But worth a try.

Weird. By default the "Return" key renders a new line within the same text layer, and "Enter" key (keypad) accepts and exists the layer.
Just to be clear to get a new line, Return - or - SHIFT+Return should give you a new line without existing the layer. Have you done a Reset Tool? Click "T" and on the menu bar for the tool, right click and "Reset this tool" that will reset it back to default. |

And what exactly happens when you press enter? You mean you jump off the visible area (visible frame, canvas), not off layer? Maybe in text settings you have set up very big space in between lines by mistake? In case here is the problem i did one screenshot as well When you selected text tool, open character panel by clicking icon (1.) or menu > window > character, and reduce spacing (2.) and check if it gets any better. |

I had this problem once and i'm racking my brain to remember what happened. ITs the same result if with the settings at default you do a Ctrl+Enter. The curser jumps off the layer. I can't duplicate the situation now.

Well here are the help instructions for Point Text in CS3. It seems that the Normal Enter key and the numeric keypad Enter key should perform different functions. So its possible the problem is outside of Photoshop
![]() Enter point type When you enter point type, each line of type is independent—the line expands or shrinks as you edit it, but it doesn’t wrap to the next line. The type you enter appears in a new type layer.

Might be a NumLock issue
I was thinking that there was a user selectable switch that affected the "Enter" and the "Carriage Return" functionality. It may also have something to do with the INS character being switched on |
